WATCH COMMANDER | MICK LEE

Watch Commander Mick Lee joined West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service in 1986 and has been a Watch Commander since 2003.

ABOUT THE STATION

Holmfirth Fire Station, built in 1965, sits on the outskirts of the village centre.

The station covers the south west of Huddersfield and borders with Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue.

The station serves a population of approximately 25,000 people and around 11,000 dwellings. Holmfirth is a popular tourist area, the population can fluctuate according to visitor numbers.

The station is managed by a station commander who is also responsible for Skelmanthorpe and Meltham fire stations.  The station has a 4-wheel-drive fire engine along with a Land Rover based wildfire unit which supports moorland firefighting.

The station has on-call firefighters who also work as/at: Clarity Window Cleaners, WYFRS(as wholetime firefighters), Nottinghamshire FRS, self employed landscape gardeners and an independent online retailer.

Three Holmfirth firefighters became new dads in 2018!
