Range of Incidents

At WYFRS we attend an extremely varied range of incidents.
To fulfil this requirement, we have expertly trained staff and high quality specialised equipment.

We attend a broad range of fires. They range from house fires to fires in large commercial buildings.  We also attend various other incidents such as grass and moorland fires.

These include providing assistance and support to members of the community or other services and include performing rescues from:

  • Lifts
  • Machinery
  • Flooding
  • Chemical incidents
  • High places, such as rock faces or tall buildings
  • Aircraft
  • Trenches
  • Collapsed buildings
  • Road traffic collisions

Firefighters are highly trained in trauma care response, and provide first aid assistance where required.

As a firefighter, you will also find yourself working alongside a whole host of other professionals at the scene of an incident, such as the Police and Ambulance Service, but also with less obvious organisations such as the Environment Agency, the local authority and the army.
